A wedding day in Penha longa

As a wedding photographer, I was lucky enough to work with the lovely couple Ornella and Pedro, who are both of Portuguese origin but currently live in Latin America. Their wedding, which took place at the Penha Longa Resort in Lisbon, was an absolutely beautiful summer day, filled with romance and sophistication.

Despite the ongoing pandemic, the couple was determined to get married and was eager to find a wedding venue. After about two months of searching, they finally chose the Penha Longa Resort for their wedding. Penha Longa’s catering service provided the flexibility they needed and offered them many different venues to choose from. Although they initially chose Forte da Cruz, they eventually opted for Penha Longa Monastery due to the restrictions in place at the time. This turned out to be a fantastic choice as they were able to have a 100% outdoor wedding with an amazing view.

Wedding organization

Planning their wedding was a huge task, but they were well assisted by their wedding planner, Coral Ashby from Penha Longa Resort. She understood the couple’s needs perfectly and gave them ideas, aligning their expectations with what the venue and caterer could offer and do. Coral also helped the couple stay within their budget and was always available for them. They also hired a wedding planner, Carolina from Sublime Luxury Weddings, who they found on Instagram. She was able to accommodate their needs in terms of accessibility for their disabled guests and had extensive experience working with Penha Longa Catering.

The wedding decoration was a crucial part of the day and was handled by Lizgarden Events, an event decoration company. Ornella and Pedro chose a safari theme with a colour palette that reflected their personal style. Lizgarden Events not only provided many ideas and suggestions, but also managed to bring to life the floral arrangements and decorations that the couple had in mind. As for the stationery, it was made by the couple themselves using Pinterest as inspiration. This included invitations, menus and wedding programs.

Emotional moment

The most emotional moment of the day was the wedding ceremony, which took place at the Basilica de Estrela. The ceremony was officiated by a priest friend of the couple, who added a fun and personal touch to the ceremony. It was a very special moment for the couple and all their guests present.

Overall, Ornella and Pedro’s wedding was an absolutely beautiful and sophisticated event. Everything was perfectly organised and planned, thanks to the help of their wedding planner, Coral Ashby, and their wedding organiser, Carolina from Sublime Luxury Weddings. The decorations were beautiful and created the perfect atmosphere for their wedding day.

Engagement shoot at Praia do Guincho beach

Recently, I had the opportunity to photograph a lovely couple. Johanne and David came from France for their engagement shoot at Praia do Guincho beach. The beach was beautiful, and the soft late afternoon light created a romantic atmosphere for the session.

The couple were accompanied by their wedding planner. She had organised the session for them. They were very much in love and very comfortable in front of the camera. We started with some classic beach shots and then decided to do some water shots.

The couple were delighted with the idea and even got into the water in their evening wear, creating some incredibly romantic images. We also took photos of them walking on the beach and their passionate embrace.

This engagement shoot was a preview of their wedding the following year in Braga. The couple were very happy and excited about their wedding, and this session allowed them to get to grips with the lens and create lasting memories.

I am pleased to announce that Condé Nast’s Vogue photo site has chosen three photos from this shoot. This is an honour for me as a photographer. It is always gratifying to have your work recognized. I’m thrilled that these images were appreciated by such a wide audience.
