Editorial Wedding Shooting in Studio Amour Lisbon.

« Non traditional Bride » feature on Flanelle magazine.

    What is Editorial Fashion Photography?

Editorial fashion photography is a genre of photography that focuses on showcasing clothing through a story or a concept. It is typically seen in high-end fashion magazines, such as Vogue, Elle, Harper’s Bazaar, and others. The aim of editorial fashion photography is not just to display clothing and accessories. It’s also to create a visually appealing and impactful story that captivates the viewer and communicates a message or idea. The photographers and models involved in this type of photography often strive to create images that are both stylish and thought-provoking. That conveys a specific mood or atmosphere. These photographs typically feature creative poses, intricate lighting, and imaginative backdrops. They are carefully styled and edited to create a cohesive, aesthetically pleasing final product.

What is the link with the wedding photography between editorial photography ?

Wedding photography is a genre that focuses on capturing the special moments and emotions of a wedding day. The photographer must be able to work quickly and efficiently. As well as have a strong understanding of lighting and composition, in order to create images that are both beautiful and authentic. The goal is to document the day as it unfolds. To create a visual narrative of the wedding that reflects the personalities of the couple. As well as the atmosphere and ambiance of the event of course.

Editorial fashion photography, on the other hand, is more focused on creating a concept or story through the use of carefully staged scenes, poses, and lighting. The photographer has more control over the final image. He can take as much time as necessary to craft the perfect shot. The emphasis is not on capturing real-life moments. But on creating an idealized and highly stylized representation of fashion and clothing.

Despite these differences, both wedding photography and editorial fashion photography are about telling a story. By combining elements of both styles, a photographer can create images that are both visually stunning and emotionally impactful. For example, a wedding photographer might use techniques typically associated with editorial fashion photography. With such as dramatic lighting and creative posing, to add a touch of glamour and sophistication to their wedding images. Similarly, an editorial fashion photographer might incorporate elements of candid, photojournalistic style into their work, to create a more dynamic and naturalistic look.

In conclusion, the link between wedding photography and editorial fashion photography lies in their shared focus on telling a story. By bringing elements of both styles into your work, you can create images that are truly unique and memorable.

        Fashion wedding Photographer

In addition to my activity as a wedding photographer, I also realize editorial fashion shooting.

Indeed before starting in the wedding industry in 2011, I photographed collections for young designers or brands already established advertising campaigns, lookbooks, etc. for women’s or children’s clothing, jewelry, watches, accessories, leather goods, design objects, furniture, etc.

I never stopped, I always continue to do in addition to the editorial and the reportage wedding, I mix and get inspired by these worlds to express my vision.

I will explain to you what it consists of.

What is editorial fashion photography ?

The editorial photography wants to sell a story with a certain aestheticism unlike the commercial photography which seeks to sell a product.

The story about the theme is important and it’s as to be developed with an Art Director and/or the stylist. Lighting is important, for example, if the story is positive, fresh, soft, …. the lighting should reflect the theme to accentuate it. If on the other hand, the editorial is more tragic, melancholic, darker, the lighting would be more dramatic and adapted to your style of photography.

The team is complete of stylist, hairdresser, make-up artist, art director.

        What is it for?

They consist in putting forward other providers and showing another direction of our competences also to  completes the portfolio.

Here is the editorial fashion shooting in my Studio photo «  Studio Amour in Lisbon » call “Spleen ” feature on Malvie magazine.

Melissa and Bruno chose Sintra for their engagement session photography to celebrate their engagement in Portugal, their home country. They currently live in France, but wanted to announce their wedding in Portugal. The couple decided by having their session in this picturesque location. The beach of Guincho was chosen as the backdrop. She was deserted to take advantage of adequate lighting and a less crowded environment, thanks to a wise choice of hours. As a photographer, I always prioritize hours that offer the best conditions to capture unforgettable moments

This engagement session was an opportunity for Melissa and Bruno to get familiar with the lens and create a connection with their photographer before their big day. I recommend this type of exercise to all future couples passing through Lisbon or another city in Portugal. It’s a way to capture precious memories and feel comfortable in front of the lens before the big day.

In conclusion, Melissa and Bruno’s engagement session on Guincho Beach was a unique and romantic moment to announce their wedding in Portugal. I am proud to have accompanied them in this moment and I thank them for their trust.
