Greek Orthodox wedding in Shangri-la
Geoffroy and Arianna met for the first time at a friend’s birthday party in Paris 3 months before Arianna was to return to NY to start a job at Blackstone.
Coincidentally, they arrived at the party at the same time and there was something electric. They started off their relationship long distance between NY and Paris. After two years, Arianna decided to quit her job moved back to Paris in order to give the relationship a real future. All worked out well and a year later the Geoffroy proposed in Rome. He organized a beautiful romantic week and proposed in the hotel looking over the Palazzo Borghese, with Arianna’s dream ring.
Wedding planning
As far as the organization, the wedding planning underlined all the cultural differences between France and America. Choosing a city was a very difficult task. Firstly, they sought to get married in New York, then secondly choice in Marrakech, thirdly in Provence and in conclusion finally opted for Paris. Arianna organized the wedding long distance with her mother and sister that were in NY. Above all the constraints the result was above our expectations
Wedding day
For the wedding day was perfect. After so much effort and heart that the bride put into the wedding, the wedding captured the vibe that the coupled was looking for : vintage classic elegance (for the bride), with a spin (for the groom). It’s was small wedding (100 people) and intimate.
The ceremony was a very traditional Greek Orthodox wedding in a beautiful Orthodox Cathedral.
Cocktail and dinner
The cocktail and dinner were held in the historic reception rooms of Bonaparte, restored to its original luxury and glamour by the Shangri-La hotel. The tables and the room literally overflowed with pastel flowers. As the guests indulged on a divide 2 star four-course dinner, they listened to a live jazz/soul singer and pianist.
Dancing
After the dinner, the dancing was held in another room that was transformed into a dark cool club and lounge. The guests were given fluorescent rings and glasses that moved to the music (imported from NY). They were welcomed by a famous Tzigane dancing group. A couple’s first dance « At last » was sung live. The night continued until 4 am to the beat of Katty Le Quino (dj and manager for all the hottest clubs in Paris, including Baron and Titty). The guests indulged on an incredible dessert buffet and an amazing American style wedding cake.
After party was held in a duplex suite of the hotel and guests partied like rock stars until 7 am. The couple finished their amazing wedding celebration in the indoor pool of the hotel.
